Don’t mind much about networking configurations (IP, Netmask, etc) – as they will be unconfigured for the image. Make sure you have your beloved users, your passwords, your configurations. Setup your Solaris installation according to your likings. Many actions will happen on this little server… A section which will be explained later will be marked with (*) at the end of the line. I will describe the procedure in whole, and will explain in greater details below, if I see fit. This is not an explanation for dummies, so you must know (to some degree, of course) what you’re doing. I could not find any up-to-date straight forward guide which can explain how to do it, so I do it here. I was required to create a self-contained, single DVD to automate the installation of Solaris 10 on x86_64. It says "unable to open /boot/grub/default_video_modes.txt", and stay there forever. Kernel /SUN/multiboot kernel/unix -B install_media=dsk I tried to get used to it, but after I setup the "eject dvd/cd" to autumatical, and "reboot" to automatical, it says error, and exit the whole process to grub again.ītw: if I just use one usb drive like the link says, I can root (hd1,0) successfully. HOWEVER, for me, I couldn't go into GUI install, the system went to the typical blue screen big font install process, with F2 means continue. But at "(4) graphical installation", the author said "Installation to choose something very intuitive, no need to change the basic settings, all the way to the next, I use the DVD iso so there is no need to change disk". When I boot my laptop from this usb drive while keep the first usb drive (with solaris dvd iso, multiboot and x86.miniroot) plugged in, I'm able to do "find /SUN/multiboot", and it shows me (hd2,0)Įverything goes on from the link to install solaris. So I made another usb drive (I put solaris dvd iso in it) with the tool ().

I guess it's because when I start my laptop, the solaris 11 grub runs, so when I type "find /SUN/multiboot" from the link above, it never works. I'm following this link to do the install. So in the end I will only have windows 7 and solaris 10. I want to install the solaris 10 and maybe during installing delete the solaris 11 partition. I've got windows 7 and solaris 11 11/11 on it already. I've been trying to install solaris 10 8/11 with USB on a laptop(thinkpad t61) with 2G RAM.
